Carbon Done Right

The world’s most traceable and tech enabled smallholder farmer carbon platform

At Carbon Done Right, we are driven by an unwavering commitment to a greener planet and a sustainable future without leaving anyone behind, especially the smallholder farmers with a few trees on their farms. We endeavour to become the world’s most traceable and tech-enabled smallholder farmer carbon platform. Through the power of cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence and machine learning technology, we are at the forefront of revolutionizing the way we measure, track, trace, monitor, monetize and verify carbon sequestration and trade carbon credits from crucial initiatives such as tree planting, forestation, afforestation, reforestation, and conservation projects.

Our Vision

Imagine a world where every tree planted, every unit of land preserved, and all smallholder farmer’s efforts contribute significantly to combating climate change and is fairly recognised and rewarded. That’s the world we envision and are actively working towards. At Carbon Done Right, our vision is to seamlessly connect the dots between nature-based solutions and carbon offsetting, ensuring that every positive action taken for the environment is accurately accounted for and rewarded fairly and directly between the buyer and credits owner.

Revolutionizing carbon benefits assessment and monitoring

Our platform harnesses the power of AI and machine learning to transform the carbon monitoring landscape. We blend data analytics based on advanced satellite imaging and remote sensing, and AI technology, to provide unparalleled accuracy in tracking carbon sequestration and emissions reduction from the level of individual trees to national and continental scales. This not only provides transparency but also instils confidence in the effectiveness of carbon offset initiatives.

CDR Core Principles

Smallholder generated

In developing countries, smallholder farmers often account for over 90% of the countries farming population. However, given the small size of their lands, they’ve been often left behind by the current carbon accounting programmes, although they are the backbone of land use and climate change mitigation efforts in these countries.

Carbon Done Right is dedicated to empowering these farmers by equipping them with the tools and knowledge they need to participate in carbon offset programs seamlessly. Our platform offers user-friendly interfaces, near real-time data insights, and educational resources, ensuring that smallholder farmers are able to maximize their impact on both the environment and additional carbon-based income for their livelihoods.

Smallholder farmers:

  • Additional revenue streams: Carbon Done Right enables smallholder farmers to track, trace, monitor, monetize, and verify carbon sequestration within their farm plots, and trade associated carbon credits at a fair price through linking directly with the buyer, with no middleman. This provides them not only with an additional source of income, but also a motivation to continue practicing a greener and sustainable agriculture on their lands.
  • Data-driven insights: Our platform equips farmers with valuable insights into their land’s tree health and carbon impact, helping them make informed decisions about sustainable land management and tree maintenance practices.

Project developers:

  • Accurate mapping and monitoring: With our proprietary AI-powered technology, project developers can accurately measure and monitor carbon benefits of their initiatives, enhancing their credibility and attracting more investors.
  • Efficient project management: Our platform simplifies the management of carbon offset projects, from data collection to reporting, streamlining the entire process. Furthermore, we promote and empower the 10 Core Carbon Principles.

Reforestation and Afforestation

VERRA Certified

The Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program is the world’s most widely used greenhouse gas (GHG) crediting solution. It drives finance toward activities that reduce and remove emissions, improve livelihoods, and protect nature. VCS projects have reduced or removed nearly one billion tons of carbon and other GHG emissions from the atmosphere. The VCS Program is a critical and evolving component in the ongoing effort to protect our shared environment.

By marrying scientific rigour and transparency with innovative thinking, the VCS Program has continually brought new projects, organizations, and people into the voluntary carbon market, as well as a growing number of compliance markets, and given them the necessary confidence to participate.

CDR Methodology developed by the University of Copenhagen

Carbon has a bad reputation; large companies and governments often make the process difficult, and the little guy gets very little of the income generated. On average in Africa, farmers get as little as $4 per tonne of carbon sequestered; we aim to change this with our proprietary methodology.

Methodologies for quantifying project benefits are a key component of all Verra-certified carbon credits. All methodologies undergo a rigorous review and transparent stakeholder consultation process to ensure they meet the rules and requirements of each programme.

Furthermore, ours is designed with the little guy in mind.

We call this Carbon Done Right.

Community empowered

Projects are smallholder/community led and implemented on owned or managed land therefore they are explicitly pro-poor in terms of targeting benefits to globally poorer communities.

We are focussed on delivery of equitable well-being benefits including:

  • Rewarding female empowerment focus or initiatives; women enjoy net positive well-being impacts and participate in or influence decision making.
  • Demonstrating that already marginalised (including vulnerable / young / minority or disadvantaged community groups do not suffer through our projects.
  • Active consideration of trade-offs such as those around food security and long-term climate change adaptation.
  • Evidence of dissemination, discussion and understanding of key project cost and benefit materials.
  • A focus on capacity building for communities through effective project design, implementation, and management.

Ecology and biodiversity enriching

Net project zone positive with respect to biodiversity – no negative impact on conservation and no known invasive species introduced; conducive to positive impact relative to ‘without-project’ land use scenario.
